Android,
I do not believe in typing and driving.
I need an app that speaks out text message with big interface icons* for driving {*for responding back*}
I have the little mic on the keyboard...but want something proper
I have seen some on the play store but they are bluetooth headset based..I want to use the speakerphone
Sort of handsfree texting if you will without being tied to a buetooth headset.

In other words...I get a text..it either speaks it or I hit a big icon to listen to it.
A reply would be strictly voice or a one touch of a big icon then speak what I want to say followed by a send command.

I am a phone guy...but many people send texts rather than call...am tired of having to pull over and read and respond.

I use Dragon on my iPhone, but it doesn't read the text to me.

I tried it for android pretty sure it spoke the text but didn't ask me if I wanted it read....so I went against it
May try it again as the app I chose messed up once I started to travel ....am using Assistance now does not work bad but is not truly hands free

go sms is a greet texting program
it will read you the text messages as you get them
I have go sms pro which will show the text without having to open the actual app...kinda handy ..as can just look at the text real fast...I had been using it..its a move up from stock for sure..I am mainly after hearing the text and given verbal options so little physical interaction is required.
good find

I tested it out and think I will like it as long as it does not eat up too much battery running in the background

There is the option to shut it off...as well as shut off and exit by pulling up the menu.
It messed up on me a little today...I had the settings for the app to come on at 10 mph..that worked ok..but it shut off later and didnt come back on automatically..will play with it some more.

I use battery monitor to see what an app drains me at idle.
I get 6 ma with it set for updating at 10 minute intervals

I installed assistant yesterday as well...which hit the battery a little 30 ma total..but I installed other apps as well so am not sure if it was the cause..none the less its still fair usage by most standards.

You will like assistant...almost as good as having a dog for company

The other app is a little slicker for total hands free texting...but assistant is not far behind and can do many other things.
Has a big cool factor for sure..and is pretty functional.
