Hello !

Well this is more of a 'one-way' thing; or at least I think I could put it in those terms. Anyhow, as the title suggests, I'm planning to make a phone call, and possibly more in relations to the first.

So lets begin, I'm 15 years old, and I'd like some general topics that would be good to discuss on the phone, with somebody that I am trying for. We haven't seen each other since Friday, and it is now Sunday night, so what would be some good things to talk about? Interesting topics, mood strikers, anything that would leave a 'good' impression would be nice. Just topics, I will add to them with my own personal opinion. If you could be help, that'd be great.

A little to know about the girl, she plays volleyball(I do too), she just finished baking cookies last night, she is religious(I'm an atheist), and last but not least we both have finals starting Tuesday.

So before you even write, just know I am thankful and appreciative. Thanks !! :D

Lol bless.
I dont think you should plan a phone call....it should just go naturally.
But talk about things that are relative to you both...volley ball obviously..the finals...little things you know she will be interested in.

Sorry, I can't tell you what to say.

Just be calm, relaxed, and collected. Be yourself. And say whatever comes naturally (within reason, of course :p). Keep it lighthearted and relaxed (religeon may not be a good icebreaker in this case) and don't start debating and argueing about the meaning of life and the solubility of alkenes and alkynes in a basic solutions etc...

if its your first discussion with the girl you shouldnt bring up any possibly controversial topics i.e. religion, politics and the like. ask her about her life and be really interested in it. chicks dig talking about themselves. and listen to her when she talks dont get caught not paying attention.

Yes, I got caught one day...

Me- "...right... oh yup...really... uh huh... yeah..."
Her- "...Are you gay?..."
Me- "...yeah...yup..."

We never really got on after that.

Haha yeah, you see, the thing I don't want is the conversation drying up. That's my only worry; I'm almost completely brand new with her, we've been texting, but texting & talking are completely different. I don't plan on talking on the phone for hours and hours, probably just a good 10-15 minutes, then say I have to go somewhere or do something else and that I'd talk to her some other time. Should I just wait until school starts, maybe talk to her some more in person, and THEN try a phone call ?

Well at that stage, you dont want a phone call to look weird. Phone her if you can think of an innocent enough reason to and then let the conversation go naturally from there, most probably about the stuff you have got in common. Just talk to her like you would any male friends of yours to start with, it will come across more natural and you wont get tongue tied as easilly, then just take it from there gradually.

I'm gonna take a guess and say 2 weeks ? :p

Also.. is it bad if I'm usually the one sending the first text ? On occasion she texts me first, but now that I look at it, I'm usually the one initiating the conversation.

Ashlee, if you could, would you mind just tossing a few general topics that girls don't mind talking about ?

And.. every single one of you make the "natural" conversation sound so easy. I've been really close friends with a girl for almost 2 years now, and we haven't really sparked until 3 months ago. Before that, we were awkward and all erratic.

Usually, if it's there, it's there and you don't have to think about things to talk about and you are yacking and the next thing you know a couple hours or so has passed. the only calls I have agendas for are work related conference calls :p

Like I said, just try to imagine you're talking to one of your male friends (convasations about footie ect excluded) and it will come natural. Then it will be easier when you want to talk about other stuff.

Well the thing is.. if I'm with my guy friends, things usually get quite hectic. And other thing is.. I don't talk on the phone with my guy friends, nor do we really talk at all. Everything is action. But I guess I can try, cause the last time I had this problem I ended up talking for 3 hours and then falling asleep on the girl.

Another question just came to mind, would it be a problem if the girl and I are in different clique's ?
