listening to him talking on the NFL Network it sounds as if he wants to go in this weekend and win against the Patriots...then again being 0-11 the Colts are not going to the Bowl. And he sounds a little competitive to the point he wants to get into his uniform and win the next five games the Colts have left (just to piss off the AFC)

I agree porter! He just needs to wait it out.... no sense in risking (another) injury now.

You mean, no sense in risking the Luck sweepstakes... They don't care about Peyton's health...

LOL or that too... he IS getting older... now would actually be a good time to start grooming a successor.

If they get Luck, no way Peyton plays with Indy after 2012. Just my .02. He's at the end of his career and if they can get some trade value out of him, he's a goner. Can't have two big payroll QB's on the roster. Its not healthy.

The huge paydays for number 1 picks are behind us though. Cam Newton got a 4-year, $22 million deal... compared to the 6-year, $78 million contract that the Rams gave to Sam Bradford the year before. Irsay already came out and said that they could afford to keep Manning and sign Luck while staying well below the salary cap. This could honestly work out very well for Luck, studying under one of the greatest QBs in history while he learns the NFL game, rather than getting thrown out to the wolves right off the bat (see Carr, David). Or they could say to hell with Manning and trade him for whatever kind of deal they could get... and I'm willing to bet he's worth at least a second round pick and probably more.

Remember, we also said that Favre's career was over a number of times before he actually retired, and he was still pretty productive up until last year. Up until the surgery, Manning has proved himself to be every bit as durable as Favre was, so there's not a huge injury stigma on him or anything.

Peyton Manning should win MVP this year. Period. It shows what kind of player he is and what he has done for the Colts.

Obviously, the Colts would be doing better this season if Peyton Manning was healthy.

However, considering how bad Indy has been this year, I wonder if they'd still be a losing team even if he had been the starting QB all year. I know this team was built around him, but one player, even a legend like Manning, can't completely transform a team. So if he'd been playing all season, maybe they'd be, at best, a .500 team.

A few years ago, Tom Brady missed just about the whole season due to an injury. Yet they still won 11 regular-season games that year.

The Colts, on the other hand, built their team around Manning. That was foolish, because did the Colts honestly think their was no chance Manning would get hurt?

Indy found out the hard way that building a team around one guy is a bad idea.

no team should! its crazy to think what the Texans went through....(not knocking their season at all Miss Fuzz!) but you really have to have a pro-bowl caliber back up in case of situations like the Colts went through. they looked awful....

The last I've heard, the Colts head coach hasn't been fired yet. I'm surprised, since the Colts still had enough talent to do much better than 2-14 even without Manning.

Peyton will really be itching to play since his brother Eli will be in this year's Super Bowl which takes place in, of all places, Indianapolis, Indiana.
