Peyton Is Here!!!

FINALLY! After 36 hours of natural labor we ended up having to go to the hospital, but i don't regret it at all, it was the right choice for the safety of me and the baby. My water had been broken for about 48 hours at that point and I was at a high risk of infection. I actually did get infected but we would have never known had we not come to the hospital. As soon as I got here I got a fever and my white blood cell count went down. I had been in labor for 36 hours and my uterus was just too tired to go on so I went ahead and got the pitocin, and then also made the decision to get an epidural because I hadn't slept in like 3 days at this point and just couldn't take any more. I don't feel like I chickened out or anything though, I still did everything naturally other than the pushing and last 2 cm of dilation. She arrived this morning at 2:21am, weighs 7lbs5oz and is 19 inches long. Here are the first pics we have...you can tell I am running on NO sleep here, when she came out I almost fell asleep with her on me.

Congratulations Clare and hubby! I dont know you very well but i've been following your thread since you went into labor. Peyton is beautiful and looks very healthy. Sorry to hear that your labor was so long! But we ladies have a way of forgetting all of that as soon as we lay eyes on our babies. I'm so happy for you! *hugs*
