I'm planning to buy a new laptop soon, but I haven't yet decided on the particular model to buy. In fact, I haven't even decided whether I should get a PC or a Mac.

I haven't yet had a Mac myself, but some of my friends have Macs, and it appears to me like Macs are more long-lasting than PC laptops. The latter, though, are a lot cheaper.

What do you think, though? Which is better PC or Mac?

A computer is a tool, and with tools it is important to use the right one for the job. Tell us more about how you want to use it and how you currently use your laptop! The more details the better

Your decision on Mac versus PC should be made based upon what you want to do with it. Given that you are using a laptop, this says you aren't currently a hardcore gamer. If you are looking to get into gaming then a PC is the way to go as 90% of the marketshare of games are released for PC. Sure you can game on a Mac but you will box yourself in with regards to the availible options. The shelf life for Mac's are usually longer than PC's but their price point is much higher too as you mentioned, so in the end your budget is also the other important factor.

Agree with !

There is also a financial commitment to consider if choosing a different platform. It's not just the platform you're buying, you'll be buying new applications to run on that Apple platform. From Office to image editing to whatever you use a computer for.

Honestly I cannot see any reason to get a mac. Compare the prices and the hardware and you'll have an easy time deciding on what to buy. The only advantage the Mac has is interact better with other Apple products. And of course you would get a Mac if you are an app developer for IOS. I bought a laptop a couple of weeks ago and the differences in the hardware is just too gigantic to go for the better looking product

There are quite a few advantages or reasons for buying a mac over a pc, not that I am advocating one over the other. It's kindo of hard to narrow down on every advantage because there are all sorts of PC configurations out there but here are a few advantages, but if we are comparing a macbook pro to other availible laptops, I would list the following:

1. stability and security of operating system
2. using latest technology
3. long shelf life
4. faster startup/shutdown time
5. long batter life
6. sturdy aluminum body, sleek design
7. touch pad is really good
8. awesome display (including retina option)
9. easy to install windows on using bootcamp, parallel or fusion
10. great for those into making/recording music or videos/movies
