For any comic book fans out there with libertarian leaning (or for libertarians who want to read some fiction that doesn't make them groan) I would recommend looking into Paul Pope, who wrote Batman: Year 100 last year, and the Berlin Batman for Batman Chronicles #11 back in the lates 90s. I read an interview with Pope a while back, already having strong suspicion of his libertarian leaning due to Batman rescuing the papers of Von Mises in WW2. In the article he gives the following great statement:
""I think Marxism is pure shit, and it leads to a more stratified, anti-liberal, impoverished society than anything democracy has ever come up with. I'm against all anti-liberal, autocratic, authoritarian forms of government, including fascism and socialism, all of which are essentially the same thing in the end--slavery and death.
I'm a libertarian, or 'classical liberal', and that means I'm in favor of freedom of speech and of the press. I believe in private property and it's necessity for a prosperous and safe economy, and I'm against censorship, taxation, public schools, welfare (another form of taxation), military aggression, and all tax-subsidized institutions and organizations. Now, before anybody writes me any hate mail, let me admit to the oversimplification required in this review regarding these views and their philosophic underpinnings. I'm not a right-winger and I'm not a left-winger. I consider the right and left both to represent the same thing--government control.""
