If you want to convert people to your particular faith, why would you...

1. Stiff them...
2. Leave a tract...
3. Fool them into thinking they've gotten a big tip and yet you've stiffed them AND left a bible tract...

I'd be irate if I were earning less that $3.00 (USD) per hour and some asshat douche-canoe leaves a tip like that...

Hmmm, did feel sorry for the waiter at first but then read how they were only going to use it to buy a video game, anyway, probably some kid living at home rent free who is just doing it for some pocket money and not their bread and butter.
I'm glad tipping is not expected over here, a friend of mine used to live in the USA and said the whole thing made him feel really uncomfortable, the waiters were just being ultra nice because they depended on the tips and you felt obliged to tip. I like paying what it says on the fucking menu for a meal and a tip is a reward for someone doing a good job because they take pride in their work.

I think a small few are deluded enough into thinking a religious message delivered is more important than you feeding yourself.

What irritates me is when missionaries preach to starving children while they're eating. At least they're feeding the children. But it would be nice if they would feed them just because they're hungry. A missionary came to my church once. He said their purpose was to make converts. But they had to feed the children first because a hungry child won't listen. Really! He actually said that! I couldn't believe it. And no, he didn't get a penny from me. I sponsored a child in World Vision because I heard they don't preach. My sponsored boy would send me a letter once a year. It was neat. Now I'm giving canned food to a local food pantry. To my knowledge they don't do any preaching either.
