With that said, anyone have any interesting stories??

I'm convinced the new house I work is is haunted... A few nights in a row, I heard running footsteps in the upstairs hallway. Only one guy had been put to bed... I ran upstairs, thinking he got out of bed and was causing chaos. I got upstairs, opened his bedroom door and he was sleeping... So it wasn't him :smiley24:

My wife insists that a house she lived in as a child was haunted. She has some stories which I as a skeptic do my best to dismiss. She's told me of things like chairs falling over for no good reason and things appearing on and disappearing from walls. The biggy is the time she saw an old man in her house who didn't belong there. Apparently he walked down the stairs and into a room with no other exit and when she looked around the corner he was gone.

But me personally, no good stories.

:D

I'm positive I saw a ghost in Amber's parent's house one time. Her and I were sleeping on the couch in the living room and we got up around 6 on Sunday morning to leave to go to my parent's house. Anyway, she's still laying on the couch, and I stand up and see a person walking past. It's dark, so I say "Morning Bill (her dad)". He didn't say anything, just went around the corner into another room.

I didn't think twice about it for like 10 minutes, then I realized the room he went into had no other way out, and there was nobody in there. I asked Amber later why her dad would be up at 6 on a Sunday, and it turns out he was asleep at the time...

Here's another experience I've had with the supernatural.
Me and another Marine were in a guard tower in Iraq around midnight. He's looking through the thermal goggles and sees a man walking towards us (about 100 yards away). He passes me the goggles and I look through them and see the man start running towards us (about 50-75 yards away now). So we popped a flare so we could see (and be able to shoot). Nothing was there.

The flare burns out, and the other guy looks back through the thermals and sees the man duck behind a concrete barrier about 15-20 yards in front of us. Needless to say, we're a little freaked. We kept watching the spot, and he never came out. We had the Artillery guys fire flares overhead for probably 30 minutes so we could see without using the goggles, nothing happened. We even took a hand-held flare and threw it right behind the barrier. Nothing happened.

We took turns just staring at that one spot til the sun came up. Nothing ever moved.

Here's the scariest part. The thermal goggles show everything that is hot (bodies, engines, etc) as white, and everything that's cold (the ground, etc)as black. They have an option to invert that also. We realized afterwards that ours had the colors inverted.

What we thought was a hot, person shaped object running at us was in fact a super COLD, person shaped object.

Fuckin scary.

Y'all are gonna start thinking I'm crazy now, but I got another one :)
I was laying in my bed in the barracks in Okinawa one night (the barracks are from like the 1950's), my roommate was at work. I was just about to fall asleep when I felt a finger push down on my chest and run down to about my belly button. That scared the living hell outta me. I slept with all the lights on that night :D

Well, here is the reason for this particular thread, although all stories are welcomed...

Today I was doing evals for some of the guys at my house... and I told my supervisor about the footsteps, and she told me I wasn't the only one to have said that... My house is named after a child with autism who drowned in the bathtub- he was nonverbal and so his mom did not hear him yada yada... this isn a parenting thread..

Anyways, an interesting topic came up... special needs children are never taught (or just dont understand the concept) of ghosts, spritis or whatever being fake or taboo... So you think they are more apt to seeing paranormal events... even if they cant report them properly??

Alot of the guys and girls in our program have had some chilling stories about seeing people, talking to people we couldnt see etc. and they don't know well enough to make things. up...

A little food for thought... carry on

interesting concept. could be true. Just like how children are supposably more prone to it.

there have been dozens of ghost sighting round where i live, mostly because this estate is a converted mental asylum and chest hospital. There have been lots of deaths therefore where the patient had been disowned by there family because they were a nut-case or didn't have any next of kin so they were buried in the hospital burial ground horizontally, and unmarked. Forgotten. In-between the sets of houses there are about 6 patches of grass with bodies in them that for obvious reasons couldn't be built on. People claim that this is why there are so many sightings.

I myself have had one talk to me and definitely seen a few others, when looking at our new house halfway though its construction i was confronted by a very vivvid, pale middle aged woman in a pale dress in what became the spare room (no-one wants to sleep in it, lol) who just looked at me and asked "what are you doing in here". Being a small, kid i turned tail and ran, screaming :p

another time i was looking out of a window on a very rainy evening and saw a figure moveing down the pavement, it wasnt walking, it was as if its feet were grinding on the surface, i wached it until it had gone behind a house and then hit under my desk for 15 minutes

A lot of the builders have also allegedly seen or heard people while the construction's converting was taking place, it literally was terrible publicity for the project in a sense but it actually raised the value of the houses, haha, all the crazies wanted to live in a haunted house

Well, in the house me and my family used to live in, sometimes I thought heard people talking in the attic, though I could never tell what they were saying. (My room was upstairs, and the attic was like, right beside my room). It was creepy. Half the time, I slept downstairs. I hated that house.

My friend Graydon, Took and picture of his mum and there waas SOMETHING sitting beside her. You could see it but it most definately not solid.. very odd

A Few years back my Father redid an old Inn that was in the middle of nowhere, pretty much gutted it and rebuilt it leaving only the lead lights in the windows, Hes not much of a man who believes in this sorta thing and when he started to talk to me about it i knew it freaked him out which made me wonder if these things were real.
Before the Inn was rebuilt there was an old folk tale of this man called Ben Boyd who lived in the Inn, in Boydtown funnily enough and he apparently died in one of the rooms, guests would comment in the guest book about strange things going on in certain rooms surrounding the one he died in, things would move, windows would automatically open, noises etc... at first going through the guest book i was like yeah sure people get fed a story and they carry on with it yanno.
When work commenced on the Inn my father was the supervisor for the job and his office was set up in the old original office which was situated not far from the room That Ben Boyd had died in. It could be the hottest day on record and if you walked into that office my dad had the heater going at full swing cause it was always cold in there, as the job progressed a few little things went missing etc and the office he was in still cold at all times i wouldn't even go in to see him while he was working there in fear of appendages falling off LOL.
Finally came time to do this office and they ripped up the carpet to find a cellar, no one had never known that there was cellar situated in the office i mean who puts a cellar in an office? They checked things out and Found The Bones Of Ben Boyd.....
True Story man hella true it still freaks me out now going to that place, the bones no longer are there obviously but theres always a freaky feeling when you walk past that office and its surrounding rooms.

When we lived in England we lived in this ancient old farm house in the middle of no where. Nothing behind my house for 7 miles except asparagus fields. And there was along curving drive up to the house and it was quite hidden behind a group of willow trees, Beautiful place!
Anyway, we lived in Suffolk county, which is reputed to be the most haunted county in all of England. (We lived near Bury St Edmunds, where there are the ruins of a 6th century monastery and an Abbey and the walled gardens. Complete with a medieval gate that pulls down to close off the gardens at night. See pics here Bury St Edmunds-Abbey Gardens

Ok, Back to my farm house.... Every one told us the place was haunted, But I am a straight up skeptic. So none of the tales worried me. I was just pleased to find such a nice place to rent for such a low amount!
Turns out the price was low because of the weirdness.
Ok, So we move in and think it's fab. First week there I awoke with this creepy feeling that someone was standing over me, But it was dark in the room....so I lean over to flip on the lamp and I felt something brush against my arm as I am reaching for the lamp.....Needless to say I screamed, Got the lamp on and there was nothing there.
I know what I felt though!!!

Nicki was a baby then, And when she started talking she would often look off into an area where there was no one and just babble on and on as if there was someone there, she would even pause as if she were listening to someone was talking back to her.

I would often find things disturbed. And I am a bit anal, so things have to be just so. For example, Every week night I would iron our uniforms and polish our boots, then I would hang up the ironing board on the inside of the pantry room door and put the iron on the brick step to cool. Then we would go to bed. One morning we found them back out in the kitchen.
Ok, I blew that one off too, I figured I must've been really tired and only thought I put them away. (But in the back of my mind I was sure I didn't leave them out) Similar things happened with tea cups and the sugar jar. things I was sure I had put away would be right back out again.

Everyone who ever visited my house claimed to feel as if someone was either standing just behind them and they'd turn to find nothing, or they would say that they felt someone touch their arm or leg. These are stories from people that I felt were credible, Such as my First Sergeant and his wife. People who had no clue as to the tales of haunts at the place.

Loads of weird things happened all the time. Mind you, I am one stubborn chicca! So I kept chalking it up to co incidence, must have been a bug....I must have been mistaken, lots of reasons I gave myself to excuse the odd goings on.

Then one time we had a party. Loads of people came over and we BBQ'd and had cocktails and played games in the lounge.
One of our very dear friends spent the night with us that night as he had a bit too much to drink and I wouldn't let him drive.
So he spent the night in the living room.

The next morning I made us all cappuchino as I had just got the machine so it was a big deal at the time. When I was steaming the milk, both my hubbie and our pal said that there was a visible something that darted when the steam rose up. As if the steam disturbed it from it's hover position just over the machine.

And that's when we got to talking about some of the weird things in the house and our friend confessed that he had seen some odd lady sitting in the lounge most of the night before, He said she was very quiet and pale and that she just sat there and didn't say a thing, He wanted to know who she was. So we went through all the women who were in attendance and the odd lady was not one of our guests! In fact, Neither my husband or myself saw the woman he claimed to have seen. To us that corner of the lounge was empty the whole night. And no one sat in that chair all night long. He said he was convinced she was a ghost then, but didn't want to sound like a drunken freak so he kept quiet about it until both he and my hubbie witnessed the steamy apparition.

The real clincher came after my daughter began talking. She always talked about "Rose" We didn't know anyone named "Rose."
Time passed and we moved away. But she still talked about "Rose" I never understood why. Thought maybe it was her imagination or something. Then one day we were talking about the old place and she was a bit older she asked about Rose again, I asked her who she meant....She got a bit exasperated with me and said "you know! Rose! She lived in our house!"

Now that freaked me out!

I still don't know if the place was haunted, I am not even sure if I believe in such things. But I do know that a lot of people I trust and would deem credible had some pretty freaky stories about that place.

About 8 years after we left England, my friend wrote to me and told me that the place was torn down. I still feel sad about that as it was a really beautiful old house.
