Ok so my bro, Matt. (If you wanna see what he and I look like look on my profile, Hes the one with black hair) is so computer savvy that the only things he asked for Christmas were programs. So back to the orginal point, Matt has this program called Parallel it allows someone with a Mac use a Windows but not have to buy on. Last night I'm reading a book and hes typing away when my dad comes in saying it's bed time. Matt gets this notice of a virius on the Windows side of his computer since he downloaded the program. So here is the question all you computer savvy peoples: Will this program be as suseptible to viruses as a Windows computer?

My guess would be no. Because it is an emulator of Windows, some of the registry/files will be set up differently or located in different locations than in a typical Windows installation, so the virus might look for things to change that wouldn't be there. But, I would still be just as careful and go through the same steps as if you got a virus on a real Windows machine.

I'm kind of confused. If the program is running XP/Vista (like Bootcamp) then it is susceptible to XP/Vista viruses. It's just Mac hardware that happens to be running Windows programs. If it is an emulator, such as Wine for Linux, then I honestly don't know. My guess would be no though.

I run this program at work, it is a very nice program to run both windows and mac at the same time. But yes you need to put a virus program on the windows side of things. It can still ruin your windows install, and you would have to start over.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
