So I've been curious about viewing this film but I'm not one for anything gory, how is the violence factor with this film? I like the idea of this film, a dark adult fairytale but I'm such a sissy when it comes to violent flicks.

Honestly It has its moments. I'm a little squeamish myself to some forms of graphic violence, but I was able to sit through the ones this movie had to offer to view the rest.

Well yes! I'm a notoriously slow reader though, and not good at finishing books. This one has been pretty damn good though. Exams took me away at the point I was getting heavily into it though

I thought it was a bit short on the fantasy end and a bit long on the brutality of war, but it's a good movie. I saw some character parallels between PL and Hellboy II, which I didn't care for (same director).
