The parties are corporate entities just like business corporations and unions. None should have any say whatsoever in our political or legislative processes.

True that

the problem is there are not enough people who vote

and then those that do vote are swayed easily

then you have parties that vote on crap just because their leadership says so

It starts at the local level and there lies the problem.

Because the lower the level the fewer people get involved.

If you have a system of government where only two parties can gain seats, and both of those parties are only interested in getting more than half of the vote, then it's a case of 'same manure, different shovel'

Agreed, and I must say, Obama's "remarkable declaration" in "support" of gay marriage is beyond weak sauce. I really don't feel good about this country right now. Not at all.

I have a gay friend that's over the moon over his announcement, even though she freely acknowledges that it's strictly election year pandering with no truth or substance. Just the announcement itself from the highest office in the land seems to be enough for her for now.

I can't wrap my head around that. If it was me, I think I'd be insulted beyond words.

I agree. It's disingenuous, and now he's blaming Biden for prompting it...I too feel sort of sad for people who feel really validated by this because it's strategy.

I can't wait for the "some of my best friends are gay" speeches from candidates on both sides. :p
Who knows, maybe Romney has friends that used to own a hotel in San Francisco or something. :D

Romney: I've hired gays ... created gay jobs ... well, until we found out, then we fired them. I like being able to fire people.
