i use it at home sometimes- sometimes its great, but once in a while it seems to get memory logged and i need to close and reopen it (the memory use in the task manager is through the roof) and then sometimes i even have to kill the process manually cuz it sticks around after i 'closed' it...

but all in all its a nice browser. its cool how if you have multiple tabs open, you can set it up to open up with the same set of pages as when you closed it last, the next time you start it.

If you google for opera options, you'll notice an assload of things you can do to improve your browsing experience.

As for the memory thing...it just sounds like you need more RAM, man. lol

Hey Haus...get any good skins yet?

Oh, and you guys do all know that the tabbed browsing is what IE is going to have once Vista comes out, right?

hey my computer may not be bleeding edge but it should have no problem with opera. 256 mb of RAM should be more than enough for it, especialy witohut much else running.

Re: RE: Opera web browsing.

Um...no. 256 megs of ram is enough to wipe your nose with the back of your hand while smearing it everywhere on your face. Basically, it isn't enough for much of anything. That severely hampers your internet experience. Add more. Even those who have cable connections notice the complete difference. And your programs on your computer just pop right up there...

256 should be way more than enough to operate any internet browsing very effectively. However, since technology has advaced so much, programmars are getting lazy and writing sloppy code that hogs up an excessive amount of memory, thus rendering 256mb almost useless these days.

thats not true. if you know how remove all the unnessary shizz thats running in the background by default, 256mb is way more than enough. i have a 700mhz with maybe 128 mb ram running XP downstairs (its not the main pc, just a backup) and its passable. not fast, but fine for most things, especially web stuff.

this pc is a 1.3 ghz athlon, with the 256 mb. its plenty fast for anything i ever do on it. and i do do more than just web browsing...

listen i never said ill NEVER see an hourglass...but its not as bad as you think.

*shakes head* I've turned off all unnecessary processes and redefined the configurations and registries. I still say I would prefer something OVER 256 mb. Anything lower, and I'd probably kill myself by sharpening one of the sticks' edges and slicing my own throat.

Then how do you survive with dial up?

hehe, i never said more than 256 wasnt BETTER ... just that for web stuff, its enough.

but RE: the posts above this one - if youre on dialup, thats gonna be more of an internet killer than not having ram...
