Ever use it? I am right now. Programs -> Accessories -> Accessibility

Pretty neat actually. It might be faster for people who can't type without using the "hunt and peck" method.

how would that work? it's projected from the thing there, but if you put your fingers over it, it'd block the projection?

I used to use that junk all the time when I was in high school. You know, back when I didn't have the super duper ultra extra cool typing skills that I do now. It just got in the way most of the time.
