While I believe in the right to own a gun, myself, and do, I don't like the NRA. I don't like extremists, or extreme organizations, period, they are like.....EXTREME.:willy_nilly:

The idea of having the right to raise an armed militia to remove any government that exceeds its authority is a noble but dated sentiment. People like Nugent damage any credibilty that gun owners have. If he's 'dead or in jail by this time next year',it's not necessarily a bad thing. The practice of beheading your political opponents is now confined to the kind of backward Arab nations that the likes of Nugent despise.

Nugent said the concert cancellation was an "insult" and maintained that he was merely exercising his First Amendment rights when he toldthe NRA convention that Obama was running a "vile, evil, America-hating administration."
"To think that there's a bureaucrat in the United States Army that would consider the use or abuse of First Amendment rights in determining who is going to perform at an Army base is an insult and defiles the sacrifices of those heroes who fought for the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights," Nugent told the Associated Press.

He's all beside himself concerning his first amendment rights yet he doesn't even understand them.

He has the right to say what he wants without fear of the government telling him to shut up (unless it's illegal). That's his right.
But the first amendment does not guarantee that his concert won't be cancelled for being an asshole.

Freedom of speech is about the only freedom that the average citizen has left. In many parts of the world Nugent would already be in jail, or 'disappeared'. For myself, I'd rather just listen to the music. I'm no more interested in a celebrity's political standpoint than the opinion of my plumber or garbageman.
