Do you have any old computers lying around? I have a few old laptops, but none of them are any older than 6 or 7 years old. I do have a old desktop as well that's almost 10 years old at this point. I've been thinking about fixing it up and possibly making it into a server or sell it for parts. If I do turn it into a server, I'll have to figure out where I'm going to put it.

I have a couple of older office PCs laying around. Honestly I have only kept them around, because I keep forgetting to put them outside on the day that the city collects bigger pieces of trash (e.g. old furniture, appliances and electronics).

I have thought about turning them into a NAS type of thing, but decided against it and will most likely just buy a dedicated NAS instead as it is more compact and powerful enough to transcode video for use with Plex.

Your above mentioned ways is great for you. You can try and fix it first before trying to sell to get good money off the buyer

I don't have any old computers, when I buy a new computer, I always sell my old one. Sometimes I even exchange my old with a new one.
