What do you guys do at work?

We are having our X-mas luncheon this Thursday. Our Sunshine fund provides the meat-Ham, Turkey and Beef. Then we all sign up for Salads, chips, desserts, etc. Then we bring a white elephant gift wrapped, then exchange it twice by drawing numbers and we can choose to swap it with anyone twice then when your number is called open the gift or swap it again, w/o opening it-basically stealing it. Now you are stealing based on the wrapping, weight of it, etc, it might be anything, and it's suppose to be from your home, so it could be anything from a cool thing to a pair of suspenders (that was one year's). It's a fun thing and people really let their hair down.

We have also had after work dinner's at restaurants and at people's houses, but this is what we traditionally vote for...what do you all do?

When I worked at the big factory we basically shut down by half a shift and had a big spread on top the big sheets of armor aluminum. I was setup man and would spring for 20lbs. of shrimp and everybody brought all kinds of goodies. The favorite was deer bologna and there were always a few bottles and other things floating around. I shut down all equipment for the holiday break and folks just kicked back and enjoyed the afternoon.

Our Christmas party was cancelled. Due to lack of participation. No big deal. I wasn't going anyway. I think it is mostly because we would all rather have a bonus. Instead of a party with our director who has screwed us every chance he could get, during the year. He is getting a fat bonus from the hospital, but not us. On top of that we had to supply all the food.

BAH FUCKING HUMBUG! LOL

Wow Nucking........yeah doesn't sound like ur place has a lot of x-mas spirit. We aint getting a x-mas bonus but that's not got anything to do with wether we have X-mas spirity or not. I got an idea, why don't you all meet elsewhere, someone make a pinata of your director and then take turns trying to break it open with little x-mas presents. You'd get the irritation toward ur boss out AND X-mas presents at the same time!!!!:tooth

In all my years of working in offices I never got a substantial Christmas bonus. Office parties were similar to described above with knocking off after half a shift with the company supplying the spread.

The owner of the farm I work for also runs a mining equipment manufacturing company and us farm employees are always invited to the company party. I think there are around 200 employees there so it's a pretty large deal. There's a buffet-style meal, some sort of entertainment (since I've been going it's been a stand-up comedy act of some sort) and then a dance. I had to miss this year's because I had to go to a funeral instead. That sucks because apparently this year they had a photographer there so you could get your picture taken if you wanted and the farm peeps got a group photo done. I would have liked to have been in on that as it's one of the few days of the year that I dress up and look really nice.

We're going to do finger foods and a gift exchange at work on Christmas Day. We're scheduled to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year. We've also got lights and a tree up as well as little Christmas trees for each employee that we decorated ourselves. Last year one person decorated gingerbread men for everybody, but this year we did our own. It's cute, actually, b/c everybody's tree has their own personal flair to it.

I don't feel so bad. I was feeling sorry for myself 'cause Joe is working X-mas 12:30-8 pm, and I'm all by myself, but I guess I'm not the only one ...... I'll just cuddle my doggies and kitties, then when I go to work the rest of the week I am pretty much going to be by myself in the office lol

I worked for a plumber excavating sewer lines one winter. He would always buy breakfast if you were at the restaurant by 5:30 each morning. When it was the last workday before Christmas he rented their big hall and had a super nice bash for all of us. He also gave each of us an extra weeks pay with deductions etc. We had the afternoon off with pay also.

We don't have a Christmas party, rather, and Employee Appreciation banquet in the spring. Awards are given at that time, some cheesy games are played with even cheesier prizes. For Christmas, we, each, get a turkey. My supervisor is hosting a Holiday party at his place, after Christmas. He'll deep fry fish that he and his brother catch, we'll do tater wedgies, other goodies. It's going to be a potluck event. Our former supervisor was drafted to supply the baked beans. It'll be BYOB.

Well it's our X-mas luncheon today. I look real good if I do say so myself ;) I have a jean's skirt on that flares and red high heels and a jersey leopard top that scoops down-not vulgar but nice looking and it's tight on the waist. I've lost seven pounds lately and feel pretty! Everyone is in a holiday mood, bringing in all sorts of good stuff to eat, shaking everyone's wrapped white elephant gift and speculating what it might be. Looking forward to the day!!!
