But the brain dead liberals love him at all cost and the centrists bought his bull shit so we are stuck with his bull shit.

This guy is a grade A narcissist. Eventually the majority will figure that out.

Until then.......... As Bette Davis said............ Hold on it is gonna be a bumpy ride

I listened to both. Can someone tell Obama the campaign is over?

Compared to the previous Administration who prided themselves on secrecy Obama's communication methods are a pleasant change, unless of course you don't like his message. I listened to excerpts from Cheney's speech, how was it not campaigning for his point of view?

This morning Liz Cheney was on Morning Joe (MSNBC) and part of her message defending her Dad was "look we got hit, if people have to be locked up indefinitely so be it". Pragmatic or an abomination of what used to be our historic base principles of liberty and freedom? I call it the latter. And no I don't think everyone in Gitmo is innocent, but we either have prinicples or we don't, or are people ready to throw out our principles because we got attacked?

Gitmo detainees don't meet the standard of tradional POWs. The war on Terror could go into the foresseable future, 50, 100 years? We as a country have to decide whether locking up people and throwing away the key with no day in court is a standard we can live with. You guys pride yourself on "liberty and freedom". This is a move away from that standard in the name of secuirty. I think it's a horrible move.

Ok, as long as I can put Cheney in Chancellor Adam Sutler's club. ;)

Well it is about time you got it :D

Amazing since I am brain dead! :)

Lets see, reasons Republicans don't want detainees in the U.S.-

1) We'll have to pay for their room and board.
A- All ready doing that in Gitmo.

2) It will make the town that holds them a terrorist target.
A- According to B/C the entire country is a terrorist target.

3) They will terrorize us when they escape!
A- But you are not worried about the other deviates, mass murders and such if they escape?

4) Once in the U.S. some judge will let them go.
A- Oh, you don't want them to have any judicial review? :humm:

5) What else?

I think your are forgetting the main hues and cries is coming from the dems in the senate. Looks like they must have been getting a lot of calls from people or they would have just given in to what Obama wanted to do.

I got no problem bringing them here. I would not want them put in with the general prison population is all.

I do see a problem with trying to hold them indefinitely without a trial. I also see where trying to get a fair trial for either side in many cases is going to be impossible if we use our legal standards as the guideline. I would prefer military tribunals where I would hope an OJ type scenerio would not play out. If they are innocent let em go back to where they came from.

I'd have to disagree regarding your historic base principles remark.

We used to hang people. In the middle of a town. With only the sheriff as the judge. Would this not be that much more of a complete abomination of our justice system?

Today, I think, despite Gitmo, we are the most civilized and politically correct culture that America has ever seen.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sure seems like things were less "by the book" a century or two ago than they are today.

It really doesn't matter in the end, the Dems are down to saying

"Oh yeah.....Well Bush was a poopy head" It's fucking rediculous....And enough with the fucking town hall meetings already, I want to watch a ball game, I don't need another speech where you say nothing, and your press secratary re-emphasizes that you basically said nothing and did it well.

and his "town hall" meetings are just a continuation of his campagin. we get it, you won, woo hoo now move along and start working for a change instead of just talking about change.

They have to continue talking about the past, to deter you from realizing they have no fucking idea what they are doing
