Five Supreme Court Justices Put Our Health Care on the Line- Newsweek/Daily Beast.

What's most interesting in this article is that the first lawsuit to be filed against Obama Care was by the NFIB (National Federation of Independant Business Legal Center) on behalf of a small business owner named Mary Brown who asserted her right not to have to purchase health care.

Now the interesting part, 2 years later the NFIB dropped Ms Brown's name from the lawsuit after she got sick, without health insurance and went bankrupt. I guess this would be a bad example to hold up?

Regarding freeloaders, people who don't pay their medical bills, or don't bother with health insurance:

In the real world, of course, that care is not “uncompensated.” Responsible Americans who carry health insurance cover the health-care bills of free riders. In fact, if you have health insurance, you have been paying $1,017 a year more to cover folks who don’t have health insurance.

And finally I also inserted this into the Libertarian thread... For the Libertarians who kid themselves they know what ran through the Founding Father's Minds and would have never forced citizens to buy into a government program like health care:

But I do know this: Congress can force each of us to buy a gun. The Second Militia Act of 1792, signed by George Washington, required every able-bodied (white) male between the ages of 18 and 45 to purchase a musket and ammunition. It’s clear the people who wrote the Constitution thought Congress had the power to compel citizens to purchase certain goods to advance an important national interest.

Republican's support Obamacare as long as we don't call it that. :)

Washington Post Opinions.

* Eighty percent of Republicans favor “creating an insurance pool where small businesses and uninsured have access to insurance exchanges to take advantage of large group pricing benefits.” That’s backed by 75 percent of independents.

* Fifty-seven percent of Republicans support “providing subsidies on a sliding scale to aid individuals and families who cannot afford health insurance.” That’s backed by 67 percent of independents.

* Fifty-four percent of Republicans favor “requiring companies with more than 50 employees to provide insurance for their employers.” That’s backed by 75 percent of independents.

* Fifty two percent of Republicans favor “allowing children to stay on parents insurance until age 26.” That’s backed by 69 percent of independents.

* Seventy eight percent of Republicans support “banning insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions; 86 percent of Republicans favor “banning insurance companies from cancelling policies because a person becomes ill.” Those are backed by 82 percent of independents and 87 percent of independents.

* One provision that isn’t backed by a majority of Republicans: The one “expanding Medicaid to families with incomes less than $30,000 per year.”

well we had a majority of the supreme court just take a elephant sized shit on the constitution.

once again

I am surprised but then I should not be given the lack of respect for the constitution the SC has shown over the last 100 years.

Calling it a friggin tax is a joke. I think I wanna puke

Maybe we need to just elect all democrats and get medicare applied to everybody and move on past this piece of garbage known as Obamacare

Nobody should be happy with this.

Obama Care Held as Constitutional, WOOT! :)

What's the difference between Obama Care and Social Security?

I just listened to Boehner and Cantor's rebuttals. These guys are all about power. They, the GOP don't give a damn about health care unless they are forced to do something based on popular demand. W was in there for 8 years. Sure he made a lot of progress on health care. No wait, that wasn't until Obama got elected... ;)

What's most interesting is when Washington Power Brokers lament a huge power grab by Government, lol.

Did you hear that big woosh? It was the air going out GOP sails waiting with anticipation to say this socialistic President is so inept, he could not even push through a Constitutional bill. Woopsey.

my problem with it is that it takes our freedom to choose away...nothing changes as far as healthcare goes...we are still going to have to pay for the people that don't have the money to pay....issurance companies just got the green light to raise rates and if we don't pay them we get fined a TAX...so we have to pay reguardless...I just find it funny that if this is such a great plan why are the obama's exempt from it and the rest of congress as well....
