That's a given. He has excellent writers and delivers like nobody's business. That's why I dug up the text so we can discuss what he actually said ... the package rather than the wrapping paper & beautiful bow. I hafta run so I'll comment later.

Basically he told the enemy that he will start pulling out after 18 months. So enemy will take a 18 month long vacation and then strike the iron when its hot.

Exactly. As I understand it, that's similar to the way it happened when we left Viet Nam. The enemy just laid low until we were safely out of the way, then waded back in and took over.

It was a great speech to be sure.

I don't envy his position on this issue. I get the urge to pull my hair out when I hear about time tables without absolute victory, but this is why he was elected. ... So I guess I can't really blame him either.
