New York City police arrested a homeless ex-convict who they say raped and tortured an Arkansas woman.
Robert Williams, 23, was captured early Friday morning at a home break-in in Queens.
Police say he followed the 23-year-old Columbia University graduate student out of an elevator and into her apartment last Friday.
The victim, who previously attended a Christian university in Arkansas, was bound, raped, slashed and burned with scalding water and bleach over the course of 19 hours.
Police say the woman’s good description of her attacker, along with surveillance video, led to Williams’ arrest.
Williams is facing several charges including attempted murder, rape and arson.
The victim remains in the hospital with cuts to her eyelids and other injuries.
