RACINE, Wis. -- You'd figure Victoria's Secret is breast-friendly. Not so, says nursing mom Rebecca Cook.

She organized a breast-feeding protest over the weekend outside of a Victoria's Secret in Racine, Wis. About 20 women and children showed up to support the cause.

Cook said she was shopping at the store with a friend last week when she asked to use a dressing room to nurse her daughter. When she was told no room was available, she offered to sit in the rear of the dressing room hallway but was told that was unacceptable, she said.

"They opened up their employee restroom, which is disgusting," she said. "I said, 'No, I don't eat in the bathroom and my daughter doesn't eat in the bathroom."'

A spokesman for Limited Brands, the parent company of Victoria's Secret, said the company has a longstanding policy that allows mothers to nurse in their stores.

Spokesman Anthony Hebron said the policy wasn't adhered to in this case and the company apologizes.

"It's kind of ironic that Victoria's Secret, which plasters breasts everywhere, is offended at seeing breasts used for their intended purpose," said Anna Mauser-Martinez, who organized the Westlake nurse-in.

I for one am entirely in favour of breast feeding in public. What the hell is wrong with a baby feeding - It's funny that in my experience women are much more offended than men. Yeah know there is the perv factor but usually you can't see anything & as has been pointed out it's why you have the damn things to begin with.

Our society is so wrapped up in all this Victorian behaviour, it's not right.

yeah really, I can't see a baby being nursed on TV but I can see a bloody corpse on TV. plus I never complained about seeing a titty here and there.

lol @ jmilley.

I dont get offended my women breast feeding in public AS LONG as they cover up! Some women do it for attention and that drives me crazy!

I was just told last night that underwire bra's ARE EXTREMELY bad to wear.... I didnt know that. Thats all I wear due to the size of my boobs.

It seems to me that these women are going overboard with the protesting. It was the employee that was rude and needs to be dealt with. The company said it wasn't their policy and they apologized to the mother. What more do you want them to do?

She was wronged by an employee and the company stated that it wasn't thier policy and apologized. End of story, accept the apology and move on.... sheez

And I do support descrete breast feeding in all public activities.

I've seen many instances where a woman would breastfeed her infant in public, and I was never offended by it. Yes, they were covered up, and yes, I was looking in sick hopes of seeing a nipple or two, but that's beside the point.
