Texas authorities were looking for a woman who apparently kidnapped a newborn baby girl from a Lubbock hospital early Saturday.
Police said the suspect posed as a hospital worker and took 3-day-old Mychel Darthard-Dawodu out of her room at Covenant Lakeside Hospital.
The suspect is described as a young African-American woman, about 5-foot-3, 150 pounds with auburn hair and a round face. She was last seen wearing hospital scrubs and driving off in a red Dodge pickup with tinted windows, KCBD-TV, Lubbock, reported.
CNN said that Mychel's family viewed surveillance video of the suspect and did not recognize her. Hospital officials said Mychel, who is also African-American, was suffering from jaundice and was in need of medical attention.
