I am so exasperated at the moment I need to scream. I am a structural and misc. steel detailer. One of the things I draw is stairs. I have a renovation job which has a stair in it. We drew the stairs per the contract documents and submitted them for approval. The contractor in reviewing our stair discovered an issue and brought it to my attention. I suggest he make his notes on the approval drawings and I would correct them after receipt of approval. He insisted I revise the stair and resubmit it for approval. I did as requested wasted a couple of hours. 3 days later I received revised drawings which altered the stairs considerably. About an hour ago I finally got the stairs completely corrected and was getting ready to put the stairs in the shop. I just received an e-mail which lowers the floor height by almost 5 inches. I now have to re-draw the stairs again. I want to strangle someone.

I can't help being frustrated because I need to get past these 2 stair stringers and a landing. That little 5" change has to be carried trough from top to bottom. Requires re-calculating and changing every number on every piece.

You deal in inches while i deal with things in millimetres..

I have a customer who has changed their requirements on me 3 times in 3 years for a few components that could potentially make my budget in that one situation. I have spent a lot of time and not received any ROI there.. Talk about frustrating..

My requirement is all about 0.2mm difference..

This is about sixteenths of an inch. I can imagine things in millimeters would be another level of frustration. This is going on over a week of messing with something I should have only had a few hours in.

0.007874015748031498 of an inch to be exact.. It should have taken 4 weeks but we are on our 3rd year.. This is going into a Consumer product and my manufacturer is pushing me big time to make it happen but won't adjust the part saying the customer can use it as is.. Seeing the end use requires the smaller version, it isn't going to happen.. The big loser in all this.. ME.. Damn..

Just make the first tread a BIG step. Seen it done in houses more than once. They always blame the concrete guys who poured the basement floor.

This is general construction. Osha comes into play and all the risers must be the same so basically 4.875 " divided by 17. To arrive at the riser change and to adjust the stair slope.

During high school I worked some clerk job at a printing company that did political campaign signs and other stuff like fire safety posters etc.

Customers would always forget to print those political funding disclaimer statements on their signs, get their dimensions or colors wrong and then expect it to be changed after the order went to the factory.
