North Korea readies missile, makes new threat
By Jonathan Thatcher Jonathan Thatcher – Thu Mar 26, 9:48 am ET

SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea said on Thursday that if the international community punishes it for next month's planned missile launch it will restart a nuclear plant that makes weapons grade plutonium.

The secretive state this week put a long-range missile in place for a launch the United States warned would violate U.N. sanctions imposed on Pyongyang for past weapons tests.

The planned launch, seen by some countries as a disguised military exercise, is the first big test for U.S. President Barack Obama in dealing with the prickly North, whose efforts to build a nuclear arsenal have long plagued ties with Washington.

Rest of story here:

North Korea readies missile, makes new threat

Will be interesting to see what the "internationa community" has to say.

Thots, comments, etc?

They are going to push, until Japan kicks that ass. Anyone actually know about the treaty that was signed in 1941?

In regards to Japans ability to asseble only a military capable of simple protection, the rest would be left to the allied forces?

They say that now, Japan could get a fully operational military dispateched in months....And they hate the Koreans

So when are we going to invade then? Sorry, that's only countries who dont pose a threat, would be fucking stupid to invade one who did!

Don't you think the missiles would destroy the nuclear plant? I mean fire mixing with the high explosives make it explode? It's common science. I even know that and I am no where near collage.

North Korea can be a mad dog if provoked. They have already positioned a rocket on its launch pad capable of hitting Alaska

Oh please, they're like a kid with a rock that's standing across the street from a brigade of riot police. Sure, he can reach them with his piddly little rock, but then what? He's gonna get his ass kick up and down the street, that's what.

It's not like he has thousands of rockets ready to let loose. He has a rocket and maybe a few more in parts. He posses no threat to us, we would smack down anything he could throw at us before it even reached 1000 feet altitude.

Besides, a rocket hitting Alaska might do some good... How close is Palin to the coast? :24:

Not a matter of superiority. They start the spark and other countries will join in and escalate tensions

That's not really the point. The point are UN Sanctions that prohibit missle propulsion development at any stage regardless of purpose by the Koreans.

Not only that (our last administration mooned the UN a couple times) but at this point in time, when the world is facing a global financial crisis, why in the hell would they want to provoke further hostility? Tensions are very high as it is with China wagging its finger at the US over our spending/currency (since they own us) and Japan now feeling threatened, etc. -- I think the Korean leaders are insane.

They should have picked N Korea instead of Iraq to invade. That is a country with psycho leadership and is more of a threat to the world than Iraq ever was. We have been much better off over throwing them however it would not have been the cake walk (on the battlefield) that Iraq was.

If I have it right, my understanding is they can determine if this rocket being sent up is putting a satellite into orbit or it is being used to develop a weapon delivery system. I'm not sure if they plan on shooting it down if it's the latter.
