I cant believe people really buy into this shit, its really sad actually. Anyone with their right mind would see that this is bullshit considering Howard Stern and a coffee cup scored sexy but the part that is scary is teens (sho are most likely the biggest buyers of this) will read to much into this and take it to heart. Agree?

I don't think I know anyone who would take it as anything but a joke... there are lots of things our society does wrong in terms of teens, self image, etc... but this doesn't bother me at all. I'm more amused by who would actually pay money for such a lame app.

Anyone who seriously believes an app can measure your attractiveness needs to be discouraged from spreading their genetic material anyway :ninja

Unfortunately ... teens are more impressionable then they tend to portray to others (not all teens of course) and so this sort of app is going to have negative effects on some. With that said, hopefully the MAJORITY of teens or anyone else for that matter, will realize that this is just a stupid program, designed by stupid people, thought up by stupid people and is a complete joke.

The only people dumb enough to be affected by this aren't worth my sadness. Just saying, I don't like stupid people. I do think it's awful though in the way that it can be used to bully. Like taking a picture of someone and doing the test until you get a super ugly rating and showing it to them. But if you are like "wtf I took pichur of me face and it say i ugly D=" then that's your own fault.

I honestly think alot of you are missing the point that it may plant the seed of insecurtiy in an already fragile teens mind. For example, lets say someone buys the app for fun and shares it with their friends all is fine and well until it says girl A is pretty and girl B is ugly suddenly girl B begins to wonder wow am I really ugly? How can girl A be prettier than I am? It then starts a spiral effect in their head of insecurity. Especially if the comments I see it adds in there are accompanying its evaluation are all negative. I see this happening with girls more than boys and it may not even be a concious thing that happens. Its like self esteem and how its not just one thing that makes a person have low self esteem its a gradual building of things over time

I don't know... do you stop having school dances because of the seed of insecurity that gets planted if one girl gets asked to dance more than another? What about selling dresses that might not fit a certain girl because of her height and/or weight? What about school yearbooks where one girl might get more comments than another?

I empathize with your sentiment, I just think that it's not necessary to ban/abolish/forbid/etc.

I didnt say anything about banning or forbiding anything, I was basically just saying that once again society has come up with another thing to help reenforce insecurities in young people again. I realize that there are many things that can cause someone to feel insecure or inadequate and there is nothing we can do to really stop that other than try to teach our children the best way we know how based on our expiriences to become strong and confident individuals and not let them be influenced by others. Its just sad to me thats all youre reading to much into what Im trying to say I think.

Sorry - I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth! I didn't really know what you were suggesting should be done (or even if you were suggesting something should be done). I just meant that stuff like this doesn't bother me, and I think there are a lot bigger forces at play. The fact that a silly phone app could actually damage someone's sense of their own self worth is more sad to me, is all.

I had an app that gave me 6/10. Clearly then, they do not work.

As if any decent adult would write an article like this. Would you want your child downloading this app? Society is so fucked in the head. Who is to tell anyone else what is sexy? People have different tastes and while my definition of sexy may vary to the next it doesn't make my choice any less prevalent. This is basically hotornot.com for your phone. It's kind of funny though because dating sites essentially do the same thing accept sites like POF have the decency of calling their rating system "Want To Me Me?"
