not. My wife was complaining of a smell in the dryer. I could not smell anything but at her urging I took the vent loose and cleaned out the lint......and two dead dried up mice. Might be worth mentioning the flap on the outside vent was wedged open due to lint. Might be worth checking at your house too.

That's gross!

Our apartment people cleaned the outside part twice a year. I don't even want to know what was in there.

My parents had to put a grate on theirs at one point because birds kept nesting in it.

We once had a dumb ass tenant flick a live cigarette down their own dryer vent while smoking outside........other than seeing all the handsome fireman, that too was not a nice surprise in the middle of the night

As unpleasant as it is to find two dead mice, it's better than wondering what the smell is because you never tried to find out.

Sometimes it's better to find out the awful truth...
