My current laptop it like on it's last leg. I want to get a new one but I have some specifications. I need to to be as small as possiable but still work as a normal computer.I can't get an apple b/c the site I have to use for my online classes doesn't support apple browsers. I have seen some sony vaios. Thoese are the size that I like. My budget is like MAX 3000. Can anyone help me out?

but i don't know a thing about computers. i just want one that will last me through my last yr and half of undergrad and through my masters. Want to be able to put together small vid for youtube and watch DVDs

Go to futureshop and tell them what you need it for and what kind your looking for and they'll show you around and give you ideas and such.

Oh didn't see the part about not being able to get an Apple. Yeah but for 3 grand you can get a pretty nice laptop.

why not get an apple?

since they run intel chips now, you can boot into mac os or windows...

seems a shame not to..

Yeah I know i want an apple and when I get another raise I'll get an apple. It's just the site that my online school uses

thats the great thing about the mactel (mac + intel) computers - they can boot into either or.

which means, it is either a full mac os running, or a full windows running. no virtual machine at all...

of course, that also brings virtual machines into play... but thats a different story..

I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know what a "virtual machine" is

hmm.. small video editing. id say at least a gig of ram (1GB) for a minimum, 2GB would be better.

about 100GB or more for hard drive space.

id try to get XP Professional, Vista is too new. [and in my opinion, too full of shit..]

dvd roms are the basic thing for a laptop these days.
