I dont know if this is just something being debated about in the state of Arkansas or if this is something being talked about nationwide but I read something that in a few years there will be a new, more secure, drivers license that will be used to stop terrorists and illegal immigrants from getting driver's licenses.
What do you think about that?

If the numpties at the DMV did their job properly, it wouldn't be needed.

Regardless of that, drivers licenses are easily duplicated/faked until recently.

However, it only goes as far as how closely someone will look at it. When I do get carded, they look at the birth year and are done.

if every state followed texas, security would be much higher. But nothing is perfect anyway.

Texas has barcodes imprinted into the licenses. In a lot of places, if you go to a bar they scan your license in, and it's recorded. they'll know the bars and places you go that require a license.

Thats a good thing for security. Not sure that i want the peoples at the PD knowing my every move with my licence. But hey if thats what needs to happen then I'm all for it.

I hope they don't want us to change licences.... I have gotten a new one almost every year for the past 4 years.. and CDL's aren't that cheap to renew. :smiley24:

This could be good and bad:

The new law would implement a practice that would require DMV counter persons to take a picture of any applicant before they apply for a license. If a person tries to apply for a license and their documents did not prove who they were, their pictures would remain on file, should they try to apply elsewhere.

I've know of people who have had all the proper documention needed to gain a license, yet they were still denied, just because one DMV counterperson was either having a bad day, and asshole, or both. Then they go to another DMV and they are granted their license. Obviously, the whole stinking DMV system sucks as it is, and will never be even sub par.
