This is so messed up:

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way...-party-offers-10k-bounty-for-george-zimmerman

"Over the weekend, members of the New Black Panther Party showed just how tense the situation in the Trayvon Martin shooting has gotten: They offered a $10,000 bounty for the capture of George Zimmerman, who shot and killed the unarmed teenager.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Mikhail Muhammad announced the reward during a protest on Saturday, and when a Sentinel reporter asked if he was inciting violence, Muhammad said, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."

Nationally the shooting death has brought up questions about whether Zimmerman, who was on a Neighborhood Watch patrol, profiled Martin and whether Sanford police's failure to arrest Zimmerman had to do with racism.

The New Black Panther's bounty just heightens that narrative.
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, the New Black Panther Party has been rejected by the Black Panther Party of the '60s and '70s. The SPLC says the group is "a virulently racist and anti-Semitic organization whose leaders have encouraged violence against whites, Jews and law enforcement officers..."

The Sentinel also reported that the group "called for the mobilization of 10,000 black men to capture Zimmerman."

I'm not surprised. *smh* Bottom line is that nothing is going to bring that kid back. It's a horrible thing to have happened and, if the facts support it, I hope that justice is done...but this will do no good.

I'm starting to really sense this case might be ripping a huge tear in the racial relations gap in this country. I think we've been living with a false sense of security that everything was OK for a while.

That the first black President didn't create immediate, miraculous changes for many people of color as they'd somehow hoped I think is causing a bigger problem than many realize.

It also doesn't help matters any when said black President inserts himself in the situation the way that he did.

It seems so, I mean the New Black Panther Party is obviously without any reason or credibility but I think there's a lot more trouble under the surface than we might like to think.

This kind of behavior should be condemned. My problem with the Zimmerman case is exactly the problem with this but tenfold- we don't need vigilante chaos in this country, things are bad enough.

People are naive to think just because our country advances enough to have a black president that everyone will sit in a circle and sing kumbaya; just as naive as thinking a black president will solve all our problems. He's just a man.
