I am debating on starting the Netflix service...

Staci and I both have Smart phones
We have a dual bandwidth router at home for high speed traffic
We have a very nice cable internet connection when it stays up... (fucking comcast)
She has a decent lap top and my PC is not shabby at all!

by all accounts i can probably run the service on three different devices and still have enough bandwidth to surf the net if necessary.

Plus, I can buy an apple TV set up and stream Netflix off the net to my living room TV!

my question is:

Is the Netflix service worth the monthly charge?
Has anyone encountered any big problems when using it?
Im thinking between Itunes and the netflix service we can pretty much satisfy any TV needs we may have lol, but i wanted to see if anyone else had any feedback on the service before i pulled the trigger!

Let me answer those questions, from my experience with Netflix (I've been a customer since 2007).

1) The by mail side is worth it if you watch a lot of movies. However, the "streaming" side of the house is debatable. They have some good programs, but it's seriously lacking overall IMO, at least content wise.

2) Actually, no. Netflix is always up, and always painless to use.

I think you should get it, but don't get too excited about streaming movies to your iPhone, unless you're going to be plugged into power the entire time. It's not very good on the battery.

I hope this helps.

I was going to say the same as my ex has it here in Canada and so does my brother.. I think the choices are very limited and in Canada you can only get "online" for which I keep looking but the choices are pretty bad.

My brother said they start to "profile" the types of movies / shows you watch and to find anything else can be a challenge but not impossible.. You sort of get pigeon holed into categories.. ( is this true Darrell ? ) so looking for something you would not ordinarily watch can take some time..

On the streaming to a Phone / iPod like I think I think it's best to think of it as you are better to save the digital copy of a DVD on a device so it doesn't suck up the power using the Wifi or any connection to view it.. Even at that having a movie on your device is not that great IMO.

Just a note. Netflix is now keeping you to only streaming on one device at any single time with one account. Just something to think about. This is the way it was always supposed to be, they just never enforced it. Now they do.

I dropped Netflix, but used to use it over the Xbox all the time. Worked great.

is that one device at a time? or just one client per device?

I use Netflix over my xbox and love it. I cancelled the mail service because they jacked up the price. To me, paying for the instant stream service is still worth it.

take a look at blockbuster online
before you chose
this is what i was gonna say. Blockbuster on demand is awesome! depending on what TV you have, you can stream movies to your TV. also have a choice to stream them to your computer and phone too. its like renting a movie without having to go get it or return it. you rent it and its available on whatever device you have it for, for 24 hours. prices vary. same as it would be to go rent one from an actual video store
