They have all the same movies Blockbuster has. Have you tried their search feature for the movies you are looking for?

I use Netflix and really enjoy it. Before I had Netflix, I had Blockbuster unlimited access. I get the same service through Netflix for half the price.

The thing is im not necessarily looking for a specific movie, i just want to have something to watch when I am at home alone... tbh I could do without it, I was just really bored lol

Im giving it a month to see how it goes...

I look on Netflix, but I also look on other sites to look up possible movies I'd like to see and then I type it in the search feature of Netflix ... that's what I do and thus far they have not 'not had' the movie I was looking for.

Do you like watching movies often? I can't stand TV and I loathe commercials for the most part. I usually only watch movies, so for me it works.

Nice thing about Blockbuster though is I have one down the street, so I can run and exchange a movie for one of the mailed ones which you can't do with Netflix--but as you said, they both have the same movies.
I considered that advantage, but with Netflix being half the cost as Blockbuster, I personally didn't think it was worth it. And I never bought Blockbuster's overpriced candies, popcorn, or soda so that was not appealing to me either.

What do you mean, the movies suck? Not any more than any movie rental place. I really like by mail rental because you don't have to make trips to the store if you don't want to, at least with Blockbuster, and you have the entire collection to choose from, with none of this "I know we have it in stock".

My Blockbuster account costs $9.99 per month, just like Netflix for unlimited rentals. I dropped Netflix because I was getting a high % of faulty DVDs.

Where I live they charge over $30 for unlimited rentals (4 at a time).
With Netflicks I pay under $20 for the same service.

My Mom said where she lived it was less money too.

Weird.

I haven't had a problem with their DVD's though.

I've probably had about 150-200 of their DVDs sent to me, and only one skipped. I think that's pretty damn good!

Yeah, well, like I said, I use zip.ca but I love it. I love getting movies in the mail and plus, I've never had such a vast selection of movies before. Of course, I come from a small town originally and the selection was poor, and I moved to a bigger city and haven't yet actually looked in a video store.

But my point is, now I can easily get a massive variety of movies sent to my door, be it popular ones or more indie ones. If I want some German New Wave, fine, I can just search for Fassbinder and it comes up with a list. Maybe I want something for me and my girlfriend, well that's easy too!

Do you guys have Red Box? They're like vending machines for DVD's and they're popping up all over the place. The movies are recent and they're $1 a day. I'm liking them.

I've never tried any of those services b/c, quite frankly, I'm verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry picky about what I spend 2 hours of my life watching. If I don't have an inkling to want to see a movie, I'm not gonna just go pick one up to watch.

Does nobody else rent from the Red Box thingies??? I loooooooooooove those!!! $1 per day and all I have to do is punch in what I want in the machine that's sitting at the entrance to Wal-mart and it spits it out for me. When I'm done I bring it back and put it back in the machine. Simple as pie and I don't have to actually go inside the actual STORE part of Wal-mart to do it. ;)

Way funny! One minute apart. I do believe Red Box will put Netflix and Blockbuster out of business -- it's just so convenient. I also like the On-Demand movies that are availabe through Time Warner for $3.95 for 24 hours -- and you don't even need to leave home.

Netflix is amazing, it wouldnt make sense for them to put their whole libray online though.

Often times, just wiping the DVD with Windex (glass cleaner) before putting it in will take care of fault issues. Amazing how much more accurate they work that way.

With Blockbuster I've not had to do that. But with Netflix some energetic cleanings were required. We decided that it was too detrimental to the viewing experience so made the switch and have not regretted it.

Why not? Aren't they in the business of renting DVDs?

Because, it makes people less likely to increase the amount of DVDs ordered at one time. (meaning you pay less for their service)

That, and bandwidth probably costs more than the postage stamp.

Most every DVD Ive wanted they have had. I have gotten few scracthy discs, but it isnt a typical problem, and Im not charged if it is messed up.
