I drink 5 cups of coffee every day, is this a need or want? For a lot of people it is really difficult to differentiate needs with wants. Cutting unnecessary spending for better finances starts with knowing the difference between needs and wants. For example, some people see my coffee drinking habit as a luxury but I need it for focus. It’s all about your personal priorities. Take time to evaluate your spending and see what really matters.

How do you differentiate needs and wants?

I differentiate needs from wants by asking whether something is essential for survival or well-being (like food or safety) versus something that adds comfort or pleasure but isn't crucial (like a new gadget or luxury item). Needs are non-negotiable, while wants are more about desire.
