My kids great grandparents (husbands grandparents) are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversay in April and my oldest daughter has been taking fiddle lessons for about the past 6 months and wants to play her fiddle at the anniversary party. She told me last night that she would like to try and sing a song to along with playing her fiddle. But for the life of me, I cannot think of a song that would be suitable that a 9 yr old could sing. I would really love for it to be something special and from the heart cause this may be her great grandmas last anniversary. She found out about a month ago that she has breast cancer and that it is spreading. You just never know what the future holds so she wants it to be really good.
Does anyone have ANY ideas on something that she could sing for them?

hmm sing seperat from the fiddle though right...or sing along with it...

What about a love song thats done in disney movies too (they are usually easy to remember) ... something along the lines of can you feel the love tonight (the lion king)...or did you want just something special not necessarily aimed at love songs for the anniversary

Ill try to think of more and get back to you :)

I think she was wanting to sing something seperate from playing the fiddle. On the fiddle, she is playing "You Are My Sunshine". Im gonna have to remember to bring my video camera! lol
I never thought about her maybe singing a Disney song. Thats not a bad idea. :)

honestly me and my sisters used to sing some of them to our mom...they were easiest for us to remember all the words cause we watched the movies so much

I think Kat's idea is a good one too - something from The Lion King. Those songs in that film were so amazing. How about 'Circle of Life'? That song moves me every time I hear it. :)

Well, the Disney song ideas seem to be a great idea. Lyrics and the tunes are pretty easy to remember. Also, if you guys want more traditional stuff, you can always look for a Minuet book, or something. But those would be pretty hard to sing, considering the lack of lyrics :D
You could always solfege it, though. Otherwise, they would be pretty nice :)

You do realize that your grandmother is gonna love it no matter what she sings or what she sounds like, right?

Oh definately:D I think she just wants to pick that "perfect" song and feel proud that she sung it. Im liking the Disney movie songs so far. I dont know why I didnt think of something like that.
You guys are such a BIG help! I really appreciate it!:)
