National Do not call list

seems that there has been a rise in non-profits (breast cancer, kids fund, presidential candidates) calling asking for a donation of mine and I thought we had joined the do not call list.....anyone else getting more calls from these money wanters?

I signed up all my lines for NDNCL and I still get hammered daily. Political candidates were especially bad.

It's driving me nuts that lately my cell phone has been getting hit up wayyy more than usual. I get calls 3-4 times a week from telemarketers, usually law firms offering to help if I've had problems with X medicine or whatever... I've also been getting text messages, which is relatively new, saying I've won a Walmart gift card, click here to accept, etc.

The thing that really gets me is that I never give my cell phone number out on websites, forms, etc., so it must truly be just a "cold call" fishing for numbers.

It may take several weeks for the do not call list to work, after signing up. That said, most of the telemarketers who've called me can't hang up fast enough when I tell them I'm on the list! :tooth Violations of the list can result in a $5000 fine per call. Politically related calls do not apply, sadly.
I just tell those idiots that I vote strictly for the opposite party!

Every day. After supper the phone will ring and ask me to donate AGAIN (we never did). They thank us for the generous donation the year before.....we never even heard of 1/2 the groups that call.

A lot of banks etc. sell your numbers and make big bucks doing it. Charities and political stuff are exempt from do not call. The calls where nobody is there are robos calling to record when you answer so their sales folks can call at a time you are there. Irritating, but within the letter of the law.

funny thing was they called at 8:30 this morning..I was like...WTF?

Here's what our bright Government does with our list.. Go figure..

Canada's highly touted do-not-call list is having the opposite effect, leading to more telemarketer calls, says the Consumers' Association of Canada.

"It's a travesty," president Bruce Cran said Friday. "Here we have all these people thinking they were getting rid of incoming phone calls. Anyone who is registered should suspect their phone number is being broadcast to the four winds."

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission launched the registry in September to great fanfare, promising that those who registered would see a drop in unwanted calls soliciting goods and service. Millions of Canadians have registered their names, home phone numbers and in some cases their cellphone numbers.

The problem, said Cran, is that the CRTC sells the registry list online. "In Toronto, you can get 600,000 names for $50," he said.

I was on the national do not call list and I still got phone calls. I cancelled my lane line because I was sick of dealing with it.

I don't get a lot of calls for charities but yeah a lot of politician calls.....automated no less....

Getting harrassed with phone calls like these are extra-annoying if you're going through a hard time in your life. Just ask a relative of mine, who recieved a lot of these annoying phone calls after her son passed away.
