I just set up a .co.cc domain with URL forwading but I didn't want to do that. It asks for a 'Name Server' but I don't know what one is... I know it has something to do with DNS but I'm also not familiar with DNS. Anybody know how I find or register a Name Server?
Thanks in advance.

A name server translates a name (ie: Offtopicz - Chat Forum) into an IP address (ie: 64.131.67.161) so that a computer (such as mine) can communicate with it.

It starts up at the highest level (.) and then goes to the secondary top-level domain (TLD) which, in your case, would be co.cc. If I recall correctly, that server (actually, probably a slew of servers) maintains a record for your domain name (whatever precedes .co.cc) which points to another server (the name server) for your domain.

This name server is sometimes combined with the host server (the computer|s holding your domain's contents).

What occurs to get a name server to point to your host server (if separate), I have no idea.

Or something to that effect.

If you already have a host you can just change the IP to that server which you are hosting on, if its on your computer with a local host like XAMPP or WAMP you would have to use dyndns.com, I usually change the IP of the server I am hosting on only, since that is the easiest way to do it... lol...

If you have a cpanel just look in that it should list the name servers that they are using on there and basically its a forward to the correct IP you are on...
