Over the net there's a massive war between forum software's such as Mybb against Vbulletin.

However of course vbulletin wins by a mile...

Mybb I use quite a lot for my test forums which I create daily. Mybb is a really good fast and easy to use for mostly individual use only. You don't see a lot of mybb forums with the popularity with forums such Offtopicz... For starters mybb is free and you can download when ever you want to. On the other hand we have to comment on the capability on the abilities it self. Such as can you make a theme so clean and professional like vbulletin. Or can you have such elegant articles like vbulletins. No you can't....

Vbulletin is used all over the internet for major companies such as British Airways, Unicef and many others. Vbulletin is slightly slower but it should be used for a variety of different businesses. In my opinion vbulletin has to be the most biggest and best est forum software ever made. However we have to comment of the price of vbulletin it self. 200$ or £125 on a licence is completely ridiculous don't you think? Secondly you've got to think of the price of the forum package as well which is at a large price.

I come to the conclusion that vbulletin wins the software war because of the sheer professional standards that memorizes its viewers.

What are you thoughts on the software war?

As someone who's been on forums since 2003 and seen a variety of different forum software, I have to say that vBulletin is probably the best one going. The price is a bit high but considering what you're getting for it, it's worth the money. I also think that most people decide to join a forum, if they're offered a few forums, based on the software and activeness of the forum.

Easier to mess with, easier to re-skin and customize, I'd say Vbulletin wins hands down!

A few years back someone paid me to build them a website with a forum in it (true story LOL) and I must say working with vBulletin was rather a breeze

Yes indeed.. I believe the capability use of vBulletin wins the war completely... However regarding the price... I would say only buy vbulletin if you intend to make a large community like Otz or of course a business.

Why is this even a question? :24: vBulletin is the undisputed king of forum software, and anyone that's ever used it would tell you it's night and day between it and anything else. The only free software I'll touch is phpBB3, but it's a pain in the ass after having been an admin using vB for so long (ten years) on four different forums. MyBB is a joke, or at least it was the last time I touched it... ranked up there with YaBB, and if you've ever had the misfortune of using YaBB, you'd know that isn't a particularly positive comparison. :24: :24:

You've probably not tried Excoboard then! Or even ProBoards or Kunena, those three are horrible. Forumotion is only terrible because it doesn't have alt+s hotkey in the quick reply box. Even though I've just recently come across XenForo software and it's pretty good with automatic log-in if you've sign-up via Faccebook.
