My female Rottweiler is eight years old. They say Rottweilers only live til they are about 9 years of age. Right now my dog, molly isn't doing well at all. She can't walk on her hindlegs...she has her good days and her bad days with it but these past 2 days have been bad. She also has a couple lumps growing on the back of her. My dad called me today and said that I have to take her to the vet to do something about it. Last night when I was talking to my mom about it she said that she was thinking of putting molly down. I told her that she couldn't do this to me now. But if I should take molly to the vet xrays and medications alone could cost up to $1500. I know she doesn't feel well, but I feel if I should put her down without xrays I'm not really giving her a chance to live....but then again everything caught me at a bad time where I can't really afford the $1500. What should I do?

I would never tell you what to do. But I can tell you what I did when I had almost the same situation. My dog Max was in the same condition and we all talked about it a little. But what I noticed was yeah he was in pain but of course he didnt want to go. You could see it on his face when you walked up to him and layed down with him. He had a stubbed tail so it would wiggle and he still enjoyed life. So I dont necessarily believe in putting animals down unless its obvious. But that is a personal choice. You cant blame anyone for going anyway with it.

I've been thinking of putting my roomate Josh down for a while, though that isn't a very big decision, he just looks sickly, so I guess we just have to take him out back and shoot him. I really can't help you with your dog, I know it will be almost impossible to my dog dawn, he's 12 and I love him dearly. Tough call.

The last dog I had was a Rott and he was awesome. He was my buddy. He rode with me everywhere and slept in my room. We had to put him down at 10 yrs old for very similar reasons. He had gotten cancer in his left shoulder and it grew so fast and so big that it actually dis located his shoulder. When we took him to the vet he told us that he could amputathe the leg but that would not stop the cancer and it would eventually kill him anyways. I was heartbroke to have to let him go but I couldnt stand to see him suffer so much so we had him put down. The vet came out to the car and did it there so he would be comfortable and he just laid there and went to sleep. Its a hard thing to do but you have to consider your situation. If hes at that age and is really suffering at a time when you cant afford to get the treatment that he needs to live happy, it may be best to have him put down.

Sorry that you have such a delima. It's tuff you know, because we never want to harm loved ones. and pets are Loved ones i know you feel that way.
I believe Animals have souls and spirits. I think you know your pet loves you. I hope you have loved it in return, and have treated it well. It is pretty much dependent on you for everything. I cant tell you what to do. Only you can make the choice to have the aniaml put to sleep. If you still have hope for your pet then help it out the best way you can. But dont make it suffer because you feel bad about putting it to sleep.
God has made a covenant with all of the creatures in this world, in Genisis, After the great flood and the animals left the Ark to multiply.
He knows all of them. They are his Creatures Big and small and will Lovingly take them back, and I believe will be waiting for you in Heaven.
