My parents cat

My parents are taking the cat to the vet to be put down. Poor Piddle. She's 20 years old. She's gotten worse this week. They've had her since I was 12. She shits herself constantly and has had trouble walking. Mom gave her bath today just before I went down to see her earlier and the cat looked like a drown rat it was so thin.

Sorry to hear that, Dana. Definitely best to go ahead and put her down, though, before she suffers TOO much.

I'm so sorry to hear that,it's always hard to lose a pet,I remember when my cat died a few years ago,I had her since I was a little girl.

My moms bf took her out to his brother's last night and a family friend put her down as the vet hospital was closed and mom didn't want her suffering til Monday. Mom thinks she may have broke her back snagging her claw tryi8ng to get it unstuck from the rug. she could no longer retract them. She said she was so stiff.

Don't take this the wrong way, but IMO the family pet deserves to be put down by someone a family member living in the house WITH the pet.

Sad for sure. But 20 years is a GREAT long happy life for a cat. There's something in that worth celebrating as well.

Long life indeed..20 years is along time and the pet becomes family..I am sorry to hear the pet had to be put to sleep.

That's sad but yes 20 years is a very old age for a cat.

My moms bf is a tad insensitive... He joked to my mom the other day saying he felt sick and to make sure Millard, the guy who put the cat down didn't take care of him. Mom wasn't impressed. Mom thinks the other cat is sad, he's been more loving since she passed on.
