I just ordered some parts for a new rig to build. I got a Core 2 Quad at 3.0GHz, at XFX HD4890 XT, 4gb of Mushkin DDR2 1066 ram (soon to be 8), and then some fairly standard stuff. 1tb hard drive, fairly basic mobo (supports PCIe x16 2.0 and it's ready for Crossfire), and it can have up to 16gb of RAM. I'm pretty excited for it all to get here. I'll let you all know how it turns out once it's here and assembled.

And for fun, here's a link to my case so you can see what all this is going to reside in.

The hardest part is waiting for that stuff to come in the mail -- know that feeling!

Looks like its going to be a sweet setup...definitely put those pictures up (you should do one pre-build, one halfway through, and then another once it's all done.

Video card = XFX HD4890 XT

My old rig was my laptop, nothing bad, but nothing special. I could run most games from a few years ago on medium to high settings at low resolutions and it could handle a few newer games. I've got Vista now so I can take advantage of DX10 and I'm going to put 7 on it when it comes out (assuming it stays on the right track.) Sorry, I didn't check this thread and get pictures of the process, but I've got one of the final product.

#3 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

If anyone's interested I can get some inside pics, it's not very pretty cause I didn't get a modular power supply. Too damn expensive.

If you plan on adding more ram I hope you plan on running a 64bit operating system.
