Hit your print screen button then open a paint program and paste it in there.

You usually have to press both CTRL and the PRT SC button at the same time in order to capture the screen.

I on the other hand (only on my new HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop) have to press FN and the PRT SC button in order to perform a screen capture.

Alt + Print Screen captures the focused window.

Print Screen by itself captures the whole screen.
