my Ipod touch...

was immersed in water for no longer than three seconds. It is showing signs of life but not allowing me to log on. will it come back to life or should I junk it?

Perhaps you might take it to someone who knows about Ipods to have them check it out before pitching it.

Or..... give it a day or so to dry up and see what happens.

All fantastic suggestions and what we have done for my daughters device when it went for a ride in the bathroom

I think however that PJ may have already turned on the device again.. This may be to late for further help if it happened to still have water in it..

Most good devices have protection in them as in TVS

TVS protect usually once, maybe twice ( if real lucky ), in these types of events..

I would certainly stick with the suggestions above and even go a little further and keep it off maybe even as long as 72 hrs.. The longer you wait, the better the odds.. And disconnecting the battery will ensure no current runs thru it, or charge anything on the board, will it dries..

The uncooked rice technique is also used in salt and pepper shakers, here in India, in the monsoon.
