I thought about this all day today.

So thursday morning we're sitting in the office before leaving to do our jobs. Sharon comes in the back and says there's a Carmike cinema in Decatur Illinois (down close to springfield) and their system just went dead. Instead of scheduling it for Saturday, what does she do? Friday.

We're freakin SLAMMED with work, in fact my dad just hired a new (old) guy.

So Friday starts off with me waking up just before 7, getting a shower, dressed and driving to the office to get the truck. I get my detector and LP loaded, then check my equipment one last time and head off down the road about 7:30.

By 8:50 I gotta pee and i figure I might as well get gas since I'm at a half tank (1/4 tank when i left the office) so I stop in at Anderson.

Soon I'm back on my way driving south on I-69. Then I hit I-465 in Indy... around 10ish I'd say. Frikken people suck. I love large cities and highways, but people swerve in and out doing 80 in a 55 on a three lane bypass like their nuts are on fire.

Finally I make it around the north, then half way down the west bends of 465 and head out on I74. It's pretty much uneventful until I hit Champaign... where I did the OTHER emergency install last July, I drive right past my exit and turn south on I-57.

Woot! A new Interstate for me! 20 minutes later I hang a 70 mph left from 57 to I-72. woot again! Another new interstate!

From there it takes me to Illinois State Route 48 through Decatur... let me tell ya, without proper directions, or having a chance to look over google earth prior to the drive - it was a pain in the fucking ass tryin to find US36/IL121... where the theatre was.

Finally, after a half hour I arrive. I grab my phones, my work order, and walk up to the door. It's locked. Ok.

I call the regional manager ruth. She's in Champaign. lol So I walk back to my truck and I go to open the door.

AND IT'S FREAKING LOCKED.... with my keys laying on the floor. Nice.

So I call the General manager, and as it turns out he's just in the office at this theatre. He lets me in, shows me around to the whole TWO phones they have and then I ask him for a coat hanger.

You have no idea what relief it was to hear the locks pop while I have this hanger shoved through the window seal pressing down and seeing it bend under the pressure I'm putting on it.

So, four hours later (I arrived at noon) I'm finishing up, packing up, and heading out. I started driving at 4:30, and shortly after 9:30 pm I pull into the parking lot at work, grab my shit outta the truck and go upstairs to listen to my dad tell me that the guy called and nothing is working properly. blah blah. He's confused and old.

The odd thing is, he knows all about Ft Wayne. He has a daughter who went to the same high school as I did, only 3 years behind me. LOL

He lives 600-700 miles away, what the hell are the chances of that?!?

So my dad buys me dinner at the bar next door to our office (ha... yeah I know... it does rock).

All in all, it was a good time. I love the interstates, as some of you know, and I enjoy driving. I just wish I had a satellite radio receiver and a deck with inputs so I can listen to my own music instead of radio. But I do seem to be able to find all the rock stations around the area. That's how I found x103.3 in Indianapolis. Awesome station!

Anywho, I'm rambling. Just thought I'd make one giant as all hell thread about my Friday afternoon.
