I kinda gave up halfway through when it was clear that my subject matter wasn't that great. It ended up turning out kinda decent though.

How do you get that effect exactly? I love how HDR pictures look but I have no idea how they happen?

You need to take auto bracketed pictures... I used -2, 0, and +2 in succession (continuous shots). Then you need to use an application to merge the files... I acquired a copy of Photomagix, which does this for me. There are a few other steps utilizing Photoshop to make it look better, but since I wasn't all that happy with the subject matter, I didn't go through them all.

This is a pretty cool guide.

I fiddled with HDR when it first came out and it can add a lot to a shot but be careful cuz you can overdo it quite easily. One suggestion if I may.... post the before and after pics so we can get an idea how dramatic it can be.

psst.... any shot with lots of sunlight, water and sky with nice cloud formations works pretty well.

I'll be looking forward to seeing more now that you dug your camera out. :thumbup
