No joke, my cat's officially a total dweeb-nugget now. He's got a wide world of being picked last for feline-based sports ahead of him. Poor guy.

Nah, Galen is the best cat in the world. When we first rescued him as a kitten, he had a pretty severe respiratory infection, and we think it might have contributed to his recent asthma diagnosis. He has coughing fits that kind of look like when cats are about to upchuck into your shoes, but of course, he never actually does. He has a special little aerosol chamber and everything, although the medication we use for him is the exact same as what a human would receive.

So yeah, it's all been a very educational experience for me; cats can get asthma. So can horses, actually. For dogs, I've learned, it's much more rare.

I didn't know that either. Poor cat.

Happily, we are able to control Galen's symptoms to a degree. We've removed any furniture that could hold dust or other irritating crud, and we've changed his litter to something a little more solid, which has lowered his chances of an asthma attack exponentially. We usually only have to treat him once or twice a week, so all in all, I'd say his life hasn't been altered too badly. And he's enjoying being a cat again, so everybody wins!

I agree, that is sad. I too have asthma, but mines is not as serious as others may be. My asthma does not affect my ability to do what I like to do as long as I stay fit.
