i have nightmares about south africa.......with johannesbourg being the rape and murder capital of the world fan safety is going to be nearly impossible to guarentee

South Africa is most definitely not as bad as the media makes out - although I'm in Cape Town which is extremely safe, I lived as a single female in Johannesburg for 3 years and always felt safe. You just have to know what areas to avoid as you do in any city in the world i.e. I wouldn't go walking in Brixton in the middle of the night in London!
