I probably should have started with this thread, as it's a lot more common for the movie to be shit when compared to the book.
So, which movies do you think butchered the book they were based on? I won't limit it to three because there are so many to choose from, and I'm pretty sure you bastards wouldn't listen j/k
1. Troy: You've gotta be a douche to completely bastardize the Iliad
2. Bram Stoker's Dracula: It's fine to try to offer a new take on the original, but why try to claim authenticity by attributing it to the author.
3. Any modern adaptation of Shakespeare: just isn't right.
That's all I can think of off-hand, but if the thread gets rollin' I'll be adding to it.
