As I was driving down the back roads I noticed the field move. I stopped the car and way off in the distance I see a coyote that blended in very well with his surroundings. As I watched he decided to come my way so I waited until I figured it was now or never.

He's looking for lunch...

They've been spotted in backyards more and more around here....and it's no wonder, their homes have been destroyed in the name of progress. Don't get me wrong I'm all for progress, but it's sad that these beautiful animals have been torn from their homes and are now being shot at because they're hungry and confused. Just saying. Those are beautiful pics btw...:thumbdown

Well our backyard is kinda big. I live in the farming belt. That said I know what you mean. We have many more here now than even four years ago because they are being pushed out. I love it at night around here cuz they howl from every direction. Sometimes from right across the road. It's not uncommon to see them walking across the yard either. Of course it's at night so shooting them with a camera is impossible.

Nothing is more frustrating than when I see bumper stickers around here saying: "Smoke a pack a day" and it's a target fixed on a pack of wolves. Idiots are very frustrating. Idiots who murder animals, not for food, but for fun, don't deserve the free air we breathe.:thumbdown

Nice pictures.

We have a pack of coyotes that live in our area here. You can hear them at night sometimes. I have only seen one coyote on my property. It was about a year ago. I was standing at my front door looking out and saw it. It was standing on the path that runs between our two properties. About 300 feet away. It looked very big from that far. I cannot imagine it being any closer.

I was surprised to see it in the daylight like that. It only stood there for a few minutes and then disappeared down the trails. This is the same trails that the deer and rabbits and other wildlife use.
