Alirghty people...I need help.

I think some of you know my routine now....I'm working a camp job for an oil sands project on a 2 week rotation.....so 2 weeks in camp in the middle of no where and 2 weeks home.

I'll be able to get into a workout routine when I'm home...I've already signed up for kick boxing and enlisted a cousin to keep me on track exercise-wise. It's here...at camp that's going to be a challenge.

I work 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and I have a 1/2 hour bus ride to the site....so I'm up at 3:45 a.m., enough time to shower, get ready head to the dining room for breakfast, pack a lunch and get on the bus. I get back to camp between 6:30 and 6:45, exhausted....for the 14 days straight that I'm here.

BUT I NEED TO WORK OUT!! There's 3 gyms here and miles of tracks outside...I just need to get some kinda thought process going that's going to give me a 2nd wind enough to get my ass out there. I'm full of piss and vinegar now thinking "I'll go as soon as I get in" but when the time comes I'm starving and just want to eat and go to bed.

It doesn't help that all the girls here are young and gorgeous....one even offered to be my gym buddy yesterday, but she's flippin perfect and I'd look like a big ox in there beside her....AUGH.

I so want to get back in shape but I just feel gross and ugly and like people will roll their eyes at me and be annoyed that I won't quite know what I'm doing because it's been so long since I've been in a proper gym.

I know some have you have done amazing jobs with weight loss and exercise....how did you start? How did you stay motivated? How did you not just want to crawl in a hole and eat a pizza?

You just have to make yourself start and stick with it for a while

If you could make a pledge to stay with it for 6 weeks your brain will get addicted to it

Make a log of what you do each day. When I decided I wanted to run a marathon ages ago I knew it would be hard because I was never a natural distance runner. I could not even run a mile in high school. I made a bet I would run a marathon and started reading books but what really helped me was keeping a log of how far I ran each day. It made me more motivated to write it down. I still have the logs for over 3 years of running back then.

Just remember some days will suck and you just have to force yourself to continue. Once the addiction phase comes you will feel guilty not doing the routine and will be better able to make yourself continue.

Asking questions about how to start/get motivated has to be the dumbest question(s) period...
You already know what to do so stop asking and go do it.

You don't need support, You need to commit... He who has begun is half done so why you waiting.

I was just feeling sorry for myself this morning, is all.

I'm lined up for cardio tonight....I will make this happen.

Then I'm going to kick your ass for being saucy....:jk

There is a reason you started this journey. Remember it well, visualize it often, and allow yourself to fail once in a while.

Also www.bodybuilding.com is relentless at motivating even a tired assed trucker like me.

What worked for me is that I stayed strong and stayed away from goodies for a week or so. Then, the urge to eat them in the first place declined drastically.

A friend of mine posted on Facebook one day that she needed motivation to go for her run. A couple of us piped up w/ supportive things and then 1 little ole guy came on and said "Don't go...I like my women chunky!!!" That worked. :24:

I used to have a hard time motivating myself to go out for walks. So I decided to make an extra few dollars by collecting soda cans off the side of the street while walking and then redeeming them for five cents a can. And it's motivated me to walk, I'm happy to say.

Honestly, what motivated me to finally do something was my doctor saying "okay, we'll try diet and exercise and if, when I see you again in 6 months, it hasn't worked then maybe it's time to look at gastric bypass or a lapband procedure." Up until then I had resigned myself to having one of those procedures done...and then my insurance stopped paying anything towards it. Amazing how much that can motivate you to get off your ass and do something, LOL

True and good for you, you always seem to be working so hard and you're upbeat about it. I drag my sorry ass to the gym occassionally and grumble all the way, which is sad because I feel sooo good afterwards, I wish I could bottle that feeling or it over-powered the comfort of my bed.

I'm getting better though, I know my eating habits are improving and I can feel a difference which helps in making the right choice.

I struggle w/ that as well. And, if I'm being honest w/ myself, I know that my lack of motivation the past few months has had a good bit to do w/ my crappy moods. I've been more sullen and moody...and look, I haven't met my exercise goals those months. No doubt there is some correlation between the 2. When I'm at DanceFit Class (my favorite way to get my exercise in) I'm happy as a pig in shit. Before the past few months, I would get up early on Friday (even on my work days) and go to DanceFit and then come home and go back to sleep. I haven't been doing that. Time to get my ass back in gear!!! Right now, for instance...instead of taking the dog for a walk, I'm sitting here online. Yanno what...I'm about to text my friend, Varonika, and see if she wants to go walk the trail.

I'm getting better though, I know my eating habits are improving and I can feel a difference which helps in making the right choice.

Good for you, Flo!!!

Woot, it worked!!! She was on her couch contemplating a nap as well. Instead we put 3 miles on our sneakers and caught up on gossip. ;) I feel accomplished now, LOL
