Last night, the second we sat down to start our shift, we received a call. The female was frantic, saying that a lady just ran over her 4 year old child. We immediately sent EMS, Fire and police. We asked the lady what the condition the child was in... she said " I cant tell, there is blood everywhere, he is uncons." Once fire got on scene they told EMS that it would be a load and go situation, the child had shallow breath sounds and was a severe trauma case. On the way to the hospital, the child coded. They continued CPR until they got on scene at the hospital and they were able to bring him back for a few. While they transported him again to the Macon trauma center... he coded again and died. I called my aunt and asked her to please give Jacob and Austin big hugs for me. That had to be the hardest call for me in a while. I cant deal with kids getting hurt.
The story is, the mother was at the mail boxes and had her 3 kids in the back of her van.. The 4 year old was playing with the door, and she didn't realize it wasn't closed. As she turned the wheel to pull out onto the roadway, he fell out and the back tire ran over him. It is such a tragic thing to happen. I pray the mother and family does well in coping with this tragedy. They will be in my prayers. This is sooo sad.
