Mother Accused in Toddler Daughter's Death

A mother in Johnson County is accused of giving a fatal dose of drugs to her two-year-old daughter. Britny Montgomery died September 30 at a home in Coal Hill. An autopsy found the girl had ingested oxycodone, methadone and Darvon.

Rebecca Montgomery was charged with felony manslaughter on Wednesday and is to be arraigned on July 14. Prosecutor David Gibbons says he believes Montgomery did NOT intend to kill her daughter. Gibbons says that individual dosages of the drugs would not have been enough to kill Britny, but the combination of the three was fatal. Gibbons says he believes the mother gave the drugs to the girl to get her to stop crying and go to sleep.

Umm Why the Hell would you be giving a 2 year old oxycodone, methadone and Darvon, Honestly I can not think of a reason why you would give a child that age ANY of those drugs, let alone all 3....

methadone is prescribed to treat heroin addiction. the mother was probably under the enormous stress of quitting heroin, I can't blame her.

Which is my point, Why would she be giving the child the Drug, They say they feel it was an accident.. How the hell do you accidentally give your child Methadone??

she was stressed out, shit happens. I got drunk and woke up with a piece of gum on my eye brow, and I can't recall it happening. think what happens to people who try to quit heroin. I've them on TV and in real life. I think she will definitely get the sentence and maybe she deserves it but I believe it was an accident and it was a little of her fault.
